Candy Pads is a single-player reaction game made by Manh Pham ("I", "me"). It has no account, no sign-in and no server of its own. The game itself does not collect personal data; the only data that leaves your device goes to the ad network, the app store and, if you are signed in, the platform leaderboard service (Game Center on iOS, Google Play Games on Android), as described below.
In short: your scores and settings stay on your phone. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which receives device and usage data to show and measure ads. Buying Remove Ads stops all ads. I never sell your data and never see your payment details.
What stays on your device
The game saves a few values in the app's local storage on your phone. They are never sent to me:
- Your top 5 scores.
- Whether sound is muted.
- Whether you bought Remove Ads, so ads stay off while you are offline.
The game also vibrates briefly when you miss. It does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or precise location.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Candy Pads is free and supported by ads provided by Google AdMob. There are four kinds of ad:
- A banner at the top of the screen.
- A full-screen ad when you leave the results screen, only every few runs, never less than 45 seconds after the previous full-screen ad and never after a run that set a new record.
- A full-screen ad when you return to the game after switching to another app.
- An optional rewarded ad on the CONTINUE popup after a miss: you choose whether to watch it to keep playing at the same level and score, and you can always skip it with NO THANKS.
When ads are enabled, the AdMob SDK collects and sends to Google:
- Device identifiers: the advertising ID on Android, and on iOS the identifier for vendors (the game does not ask for tracking permission, so the iOS advertising identifier is not available to it).
- IP address, from which an approximate location is derived.
- Ad interactions such as views and taps, and app usage needed to deliver and measure ads.
- Diagnostics: crash and performance data from the ad SDK, and device information such as model, OS version and language.
Google uses this data to serve ads, measure them, prevent fraud and, where you allow it, personalize ads. How Google uses data from apps that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. On first launch the game shows Google's consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) before any ad is requested. You can accept, refuse or choose purposes, and change your choice at any time with the PRIVACY chip (in the REMOVE ADS screen opened from NO ADS, or in the top corner once you own Remove Ads). Outside those regions no form is shown.
In-app purchase
The optional Remove Ads purchase is a one-time, non-consumable purchase processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store, through the Unity In-App Purchasing library. I receive no card or billing details. Store purchase records are kept by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies, and the purchase can be restored on a new device with RESTORE in the REMOVE ADS screen on iOS (or by reinstalling on Android with the same Google account).
Leaderboards (Game Center and Google Play Games)
On iOS, if you are signed in to Game Center, the game submits your best score to an Apple Game Center leaderboard, where it is shown with your Game Center nickname. This is handled by Apple under its privacy policy. On Android, the same works through Google Play Games Services once the game has been set up for it and you sign in; the score is shown with your Play Games profile and handled by Google under its privacy policy. If you are not signed in, or the RANKS chip is not shown, nothing is sent and your scores stay on your device.
Your choices
- Stop all ads: buy Remove Ads. Once owned, the game shows no banner, no full-screen ads, and the CONTINUE offer is free with no rewarded ad.
- Change ad consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): the PRIVACY chip described above.
- Limit ad personalization: on Android, Settings > Privacy > Ads to reset or delete your advertising ID; on iOS, Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising.
- Play offline: the game works without an internet connection, in which case no ads are requested and nothing is sent.
Children
Candy Pads is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact me and I will help to have it removed.
Retention and deletion
- Data on your device is deleted when you uninstall the game or clear its app data.
- Data received by Google AdMob is retained according to Google's privacy policy. Resetting your advertising ID disconnects it from your device.
- Game Center scores can be managed in your Apple account settings; Play Games scores in your Google Play Games profile settings.
- There is no Candy Pads account, so there is no account to delete. Since I do not hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for me to delete either, but you can always write to me with questions.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because the game does not send personal data to me, requests about ad data are best made to Google using the links above; I am happy to help with any request at the address below. I do not sell personal information.
